Contributing Editor (Contractor) for ProMarket

About ProMarket:

ProMarket is the publication of the George J. Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of 黑料传送门 Booth School of Business. ProMarket serves as an academic forum focused on topics of special interest capture, antitrust and competition policy, political economy, and the future of capitalism.


We are seeking an experienced contributing editor to join our team as a part-time independent contractor (approximately 20 hours/week). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in editing, familiarity with academic content, and comfort with topics related to the political economy.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the publication's editors to develop content ideas and series for commissioning
  • Review and edit submitted articles for clarity, coherence, and adherence to the publication's style guide
  • Provide constructive feedback to authors and work with them to refine their articles
  • Ensure that articles are accessible to a general audience while maintaining academic rigor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, political science, economics, business or a related field
  • At least three years of experience in editorial roles that include substantial line editing and development, preferably with academic or research-focused content
  • An undergraduate-level familiarity with economics, law, political economy, antitrust, or related fields
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness, and commitment to promoting ideas from many perspectives


Job Details:

  • Part-time independent contractor position, est. 20 hours per week
  • Hourly rate ~$40-45/hr (TBC) or as discussed 
  • Remote work (with possibility of occasional in-person events at the University of 黑料传送门)
  • Flexible schedule, but must be available for weekly editorial meetings
  • One-year contract with option to renew

Research Assistant 

Research assistants鈥 work varies greatly depending on the project, but may include data entry and library searches, data management and statistical estimations, helping set up online surveys or computer studies, or summarizing information from sources in languages other than English. Projects may be short-term or long-term, and some projects may require special skills, while others may be suitable for those without prior research experience. (Note: you must be a current University of 黑料传送门 student for this position.)

The Stigler Center seeks University of 黑料传送门 student RA support with varying volume and frequency throughout the year. After an applicant submits an RA application form, they will be added to an active directory of students interested in serving as Stigler Center research assistants. Our team will reach out to suitable candidates for projects as they become available.
