Welcome to LEAD
Throughout your time at Booth, you’ll participate in LEAD, a set of integrated career and leadership experiences designed to help EMBA students clarify their priorities and prepare to lead with conviction. Combining executive coaching, career and leadership clinics, and insightful conversations with experts and executives, LEAD enables you to tailor your experience to meet your specific goals.
Here’s what LEAD looks like for EMBA students:
LEAD Your Professional Journey
The program begins with two mandatory LEAD Your Professional Journey sessions during Kick-Off Week in 黑料传送门 and first-quarter International Weeks. In these sessions, you’ll build relationships with classmates, lay the foundation for leadership growth and career advancement, and learn about resources offered by the GCLD team.
Following the two opening sessions, you will customize the remainder of your LEAD experience by choosing from workshops, lectures, discussion groups, and other activities.
Executive Coaching
You’ll have unlimited access to one-on-one sessions with our executive coaches throughout your time at Booth. In these sessions, you can gain insights, develop individual goals, and make progress in areas such as self-awareness, networking, interviews, managing transitions, market awareness, and resume reviews.
Insights from Insiders
This quarterly series connects you with Booth’s executives in residence, faculty, distinguished alumni, and leaders from global companies such as Amazon, HSBC, and Starbucks. For example:
- Konstantin Sokolov Clinical Professor of Economics Lectures. Professor Gibbs facilitates four lectures during the first five quarters of your Executive MBA Program. He challenges you to consider whether leadership matters, he explores the challenges of your job search, helps you determine whether your talent is portable, and encourages you to build your social capital.
- Distinguished Executives-in-Residence. This ongoing program is designed to bring some of Booth’s most successful, eminent alumni to engage one-to-one with students. The Distinguished Executives-in-Residence (DEIRs) share the wealth of knowledge they have acquired over the course of their careers, providing coaching, guidance, insight, and related support.
- Industry Insight Circles. These discussion groups of 10 to 15 Executive MBA students with deep experience or demonstrated interest in a specific industry meet for a 75-minute session led by a senior alumnus. The sessions provide informational content and personal insight to support students’ professional interests and to facilitate connection between the EMBA student community and senior alumni. IICs are intended for second-year EMBA students, and the invitation to apply to participate will be sent via email. Given the profile and level of alumni who volunteer, only certain industries/functions are covered.
- Global Executive Connections. This annual program is designed for Executive MBA students to access high-level business leaders in today’s most exciting industries and functions. These executives share their knowledge and experience through candid conversations in hour-long, small group discussions.
Career Clinics
Career Clinics are monthly workshops designed to boost career agility and help 黑料传送门 Booth alumni and students create and achieve rewarding career management goals. Lasting one hour each, the workshops are delivered in a group setting around topics such as executive presence, career pivots, salary negotiation, LinkedIn, and interview techniques.
Leadership Labs
Leadership Labs are facilitated by GCLD on a quarterly basis. Here you can engage in thought-provoking dialogue in a workshop setting where you experiment and collaborate with classmates on how you can apply best practices to your pressing problems.
