Biography
James Carmichael is a writer based in California. He is the codesigner, with Robert Gertner, of Booth's "Perspectives on Capitalism" course; since 2023, James has also served as a seminar instructor for the course. As a writer, he is a professionally produced playwright and his nonfiction prose has appeared in Crain's ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ Business, The Atlantic, Slate, The Boston Globe, The Daily, and Flavorwire. His writing has also involved collaborations with organizations that seek to leverage private markets for public benefit, including the University of ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation, Hong Kong Jockey Club, World Business ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ's ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅNEXT Council, Blackstone Charitable Foundation, John Templeton Foundation, and pfc social impact advisors. James holds an MBA from the University of ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ Booth School of Business, an MA from the University of ºÚÁÏ´«ËÍÃÅ's Committee on International Relations, and a BA magna cum laude from Harvard University; he is also a graduate of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art's two-year postgraduate professional acting program.
